Localities hoping to take advantage of funding available through Virginia Farmland and Forestland Preservation Fund (FFPF) have the opportunity to apply annually. A total of $437, 500 has been appropriated for the FY 2026 allocation round, which will open on October 1, 2025, and close on October 30, 2025. Application materials, progress reports and claims for reimbursement are submitted in our System Access Portal for Forestry Grants.
A thorough review of all application materials, including the locality’s deed template, will be conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Attorney General. Awards have a target announcement date of December 1, 2025. Localities awarded funding will enter into an Intergovernmental (IGA) agreement with the Virginia Department of Forestry (DOF) defining the responsibilities of both parties.
